Every year Okinawa celebrates the Shurijo Castle Festival.
This festival reflects, through re-enactments and demonstrations, the golden age of the Ryukyu Kingdom dynasties.
In November 2002 Kodokan Taira dojo was invited to demonstrate Matsubayashi-ryu karate at the Shicha-no-una (Lower courtyard area) of Shurijo castle.
