Shinjo Sensei was a senior member of Taira dojo and also a direct student of Grand Master Shoshin Nagamine.
Mr Shinjo Sensei was a great teacher and friend. His hospitality and kindness is fondly remembered by Sensei Kevin who was taken under his wing on his many visits to Okinawa. Shinjo Sensei shared not only his vast knowledge of Matsubayashi Ryu with Sensei Kevin but also the many wonders of Okinawan culture.

Wanshu:
It is believed that this kata was brought to Okinawa in 1683 by a Chinese envoy named Wanshu; but later, this kata was reformed and developed by Karate men of Tomari Village. The characteristic of this kata is the execution of hidden fist punches.
